Changing the arrangement of my blog

 I didn't make too many changes to my blog arrangement. 

1. Click the Layout button on the blogger's left-hand side, enter the layout page. 

2. Read the sentence on top "Add, remove and edit gadgets on your blog. Click and drag to rearrange gadgets. To change columns and widths, use the Theme designer." Click the blue words "Theme designer", access to the theme design page.

3. Make changes. I have chosen tile horizontally, Alignment left top, moved the side bars from right to left, changed the width of left sidebar from 260-240; changed the width of entire blog from 860 to 1,000.

Recommended tools for social media engagement

 From my studies and experience, I recommend two media tools I believe will be beneficial to libraries:

1. YouTube. Videos on YouTube Channel can help clients get information visually and access information repeatedly and pause at any time. This is a good way for them to fully understand the information at their own pace. It is a good method for the libraries to deliver high-quality service, especially under the COVID-19 circumstances.

2. Facebook. Facebook has massive users. Libraries post events, images, and videos on Facebook, and in this way, they can communicate directly with their clients. It will help libraries to get instant feedback and make improvements in time.

Changing the look of my blog

I choose Watermark Flower as my blog theme. Because I like the simple design and the colours. 

The colours are green, light green, and light blue, which look good to our eyes and can help us to relax too. I also like the design of flying dandelions on the right top. Because my blog content is about the library, dandelions send their seeds to earth just like libraries send their collections to clients. I like the connection between dandelion and the library.

How is my local public library using social media?

My local public library is Ku-ring-gai Library. Ku-ring-gai Library has a website. It also uses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. 

The Website URL is https://www.krg.nsw.gov.au/Community/Ku-ring-gai-Library. On this website, the navigation buttons are clear and have a brief explanation each. There are feedback buttons at the page bottom that let clients comment on this page, which can help the library improve this site.

The Facebook page includes information about the library’s profiles, photos, events, posts, videos, reviews, Spydus service, and the community. It also includes related pages and the pages it liked. The link is https://www.facebook.com/krglibrary/.

The Twitter page includes information about the library’s profile, photos, videos, upcoming events, news from the council, local promotions, and retweeted updates. The link is https://twitter.com/krgcouncil?lang=en.

The Instagram page includes information about the library’s profile, posts, videos, and tagged. The link is https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/1017478713/ku-ring-gai-library/?hl=en.

In the YouTube channel, the Ku-ring-gai Library account has 6 videos, 1 is Author encounter with James Colmen, 2 are beading workshops for Christmas, 2 are library catalogue guide and 1 is remote printing guide. The link is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChklDM5UQtfGsntt-TlguPg. 

The Ku-ring-gai Council account also has videos related to the library service, such as Storytime with Mayor Jennifer Anderson, Ku-ring-gai Library 75th Anniversary, and so on. 

How libraries are using social media

1. Blog. The NSW state library has a blog webpage on its official website. The link is https://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/blogs. The content is about what is happening in the state library. Clients can search blogs by selecting different topics or setting a specific period.

2. YouTube. Inner West Library is using YouTube page to publish videos about their profile, the name is "Inner West Library and History" under the account name of Inner West Council. The link is https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0rwDvo4RSxbLSdhUX35kIpa1Lokq0aib. There are 140 videos on this list. The most recent video was updated on 07 June 2021. Videos are divided into different series like Art Series, Speaker Series, Hello Holidays, etc. 

3. Facebook. Randwick City Library has a Facebook account. The link is https://www.facebook.com/RandwickCityLibrary/.  It contains the profile of Randwick City Library, past events, photos, videos, communities and linked groups.

4. Twitter. National Library of Australia is using Twitter. The link is https://twitter.com/nlagovau?lang=en. Except for the buttons of Twitts, Twitts & Replies, Media, and Likes, it has a Donate now hyperlink. 

5. Instagram. Macquarie University Library has an Instagram account. The link is https://www.instagram.com/mq_library/. It has 279 posts, 1,841 followers and 85 following. It also has the URL of Macquarie University Library www.mq.edu.au/library.
